Day 27 of the 2026 WSOP saw Joao Simao win his fourth bracelet in the High Roller PLO. In the Poker Players Championship, Matt Glantz secured the chip lead, whereas reigning event champion Michael Mizrachi was eliminated during opening play.
Day 27 of the 2026 World Series of Poker (WSOP) offered a relatively quiet schedule in terms of total volume, with six tournaments active across the tournament floors.
Despite the lower event count, the stakes remained exceptionally high, featuring buy-ins that scaled from the accessible $500 Salute to Warriors up to the elite $50,000 tier.
The single-day session concluded with one gold bracelet awarded and a star-studded field locking up chips for subsequent tournament stages.
The sole bracelet victory of Day 27 took place in Event #55: $50,000 High Roller Pot-Limit Omaha. Brazil's Joao Simao emerged victorious from the premier tournament field to secure his fourth career WSOP gold bracelet alongside a top prize of $1,368,700.
Simao defeated Indian professional Santhosh Suvarna in heads-up play, denying Suvarna his second bracelet win of the 2026 series. Suvarna collected $912,940 for his runner-up finish.
Concurrently, the highly anticipated Event #60: $50,000 Poker Players Championship (PPC) officially kicked off, drawing an initial field of 87 entries on Day 1. All eyes were on reigning champion Michael Mizrachi, who entered the tournament seeking a record-extending fifth career PPC victory.
However, Mizrachi's run ended during the final level of Day 1 play. After dropping a significant portion of his chips to Chino Rheem during a round of Razz, "The Grinder" committed the remainder of his short stack in a subsequent Razz hand against Brad Ruben.
Mizrachi failed to survive the encounter and was eliminated from the tournament area. Ruben advanced with 500,000 chips, while Rheem concluded the night in fourth place with 763,000 chips.
Matt Glantz secured the overnight chip lead for Day 2, bagging a top stack of 989,000. Glantz, frequently cited in discussions surrounding the accomplished players without a WSOP bracelet, stands in optimal position ahead of a decorated field.
Eight-time bracelet winner Benny Glaser follows closely with 826,000 chips, while fellow British player Robert Wells bagged 790,000 chips.
The remaining top 15 chip stacks include prominent figures such as Frank Brannan (649,000), Jesse Lonis (643,500), Chris Brewer (694,500), Josh Arieh (625,500), James Obst (594,000), Ryan Hoenig (590,000), and Dylan Weisman (582,000).
Other elite professionals advancing to Day 2 include Jason Mercier (499,500), Bryce Yockey (495,500), Paul Volpe (475,000), Ben Yu (404,000), Gus Hansen (401,500), John Monnette (370,500), Eli Elezra (325,000), Brian Rast (276,000), and Daniel Negreanu (247,000).
Day 2 is scheduled to resume at 1:00 p.m. local time on June 22, 2026. Late registration remains open until approximately 7:30 p.m. local time, positioning the event to potentially surpass the 107 entrants recorded in the previous year.
In Event #50: $1,500 Millionaire Maker, Day 2d action commenced with 1,228 returning competitors. After 10 levels of play, the field was systematically narrowed down to just 164 players who successfully bagged chips for the next phase.
In Event #57: $1,000 Pot-Limit Omaha, Utah's Stephen Hubbard continued his recent tournament success by securing a top 10 chip stack at the end of Day 1b.
Hubbard, who captured his first career bracelet earlier this summer in the $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha Five-Card event, has amassed seven cashes and two top five finishes alongside his victory during the current series.
Finally, Event #59: $500 Salute to Warriors generated massive attendance, attracting 4,478 players on its opening day.
By the end of the session, only 672 players successfully punched their tickets to Day 2, with Nicholas Rigby building a notable chip stack.
The charitable event generated substantial impact, as $40 from each individual buy-in was automatically allocated to veteran organizations and charities, raising a total of almost $180,000.
