WSOP Main Event Final Table Set as Lucas Jumalon Smashes Day 8 Field

Lucas Jumalon built a massive 194,000,000 chip stack on Day 8 to lead the final nine players into the WSOP Main Event final table. The remaining contenders have guaranteed $1,000,000, but chase the $10,000,000 top prize on August 3.

The final nine players in the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event have been officially determined after an intense Day 8 session.

Leading the field into the most prestigious final table in poker is 22-year-old Lucas Jumalon, who built a commanding stack of 194,000,000 chips. When play resumes on August 3, Jumalon will be in pole position and sits just eight eliminations away from capturing the title of poker world champion.

Rami Hammoud and Jamie Shaevel follow Jumalon to round out the top three chip stacks. The remaining line-up features highly decorated poker veterans, including three-time bracelet winner Greg Mueller of Canada and four-time bracelet winner Michael Gagliano from the United States.

Jumalon secured his massive chip lead and simultaneously set the final table by eliminating the reigning Aussie Millions Main Event champion, Malcolm Trayner. Trayner was knocked out in 10th place, bringing an end to the run of the prominent Australian contender.

While the spotlight now belongs to the final nine, Day 8 began with 21 players returning to the felt, including several icons of the game.

Among the returning field was nine-time WSOP bracelet winner and reigning Player of the Year Shaun Deeb. Dylan Smith, a proven tournament crusher who won his first career bracelet earlier in this series, was also in contention.

Another notable deep run came from Wilson, a player who has established himself among the game's elite over the past few years with four tournament victories this year alone and $13 million in career earnings.

Mixed games legend and Hall of Famer Todd Brunson put together his deepest Main Event run in three decades, attempting to join his father Doyle Brunson as the second father-son duo to reach the Main Event final table. Additionally, 2019 Main Event champion Hossein Ensan was in the field, attempting to secure a historic second title.

Ultimately, all of these high-profile players fell short of the final table. Brunson experienced an early surge after finding a fortunate triple up when his ace-king rivered a pair of aces in a three-way all-in, cracking the pocket kings held by Wilson and the pocket queens of Trayner.

However, Brunson was later eliminated in 20th place when Trayner hit a flush on the river to beat Brunson's pocket aces.

With the eliminations complete, the remaining nine players have locked up a guaranteed payout of at least $1,000,000. However, the ultimate focus remains on the $10,000,000 first-place prize and the coveted diamond championship bracelet.

The final table action will resume in exactly three weeks on August 3. The clock will pick up with 56:40 remaining in Level 39, featuring blinds of 1,000,000/1,500,000 alongside a 1,500,000 big blind ante.

Jumalon will look to leverage his third-place start on Day 8 into a world championship victory when the cards go back in the air.
