WPT Prime Taiwan returns to Taipei from January 2-11, 2027, with a TWD 30 million guaranteed Championship. CTP’s Asia Poker Arena will host the festival, while WPT Global plans online satellites, live packages and additional promotions.

WPT Prime Taiwan will return to Taipei from January 2 to 11, 2027, with the festival scheduled to take place at CTP’s Asia Poker Arena in the city’s Zhongshan District.

The series will be headlined by the WPT Prime Taiwan Championship, which carries a TWD 35,000 (approximately USD 1,100) buy-in and a TWD 30 million (approximately USD 1 million) guaranteed prize pool.

Presented by PokerTalk and sponsored by WPT Global, the January festival marks another return for the World Poker Tour to a familiar venue in Taiwan.

A second WPT event is also scheduled to take place in Taiwan from August 12 to 23, 2027, although its name and tournament format have yet to be announced.

The WPT Prime Taiwan Championship will run from January 7 to 11, forming the centre piece of the wider 10-day festival. The full series begins on January 2 and concludes on January 11 at CTP’s Asia Poker Arena.

The Championship's TWD 35,000 buy-in is equivalent to approximately USD 1,100, while its guaranteed prize pool stands at TWD 30 million, or approximately USD 1 million.

The January festival will be presented by PokerTalk, with WPT Global serving as the official sponsor. The event continues the tour's presence in Taipei, where CTP has hosted WPT tournaments over multiple years.

Details concerning venue access, registration procedures and the final daily tournament schedule will be shared ahead of the festival.

CTP’s Asia Poker Arena will host the January festival, with a second WPT event scheduled at the venue from August 12 to 23, 2027. The name and tournament format for the August event will be announced in due course.

The venue is associated with the Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Association, founded by Hsing “David” Tai. The association has contributed to the development of Taiwan’s live tournament scene and welcomes both local and international players at its Asia Poker Arena in Taipei’s Zhongshan District.

The venue previously hosted the WPT Prime Taiwan Championship in 2024, when the event attracted 1,666 entries. That turnout established a record for a WPT Prime Championship held outside Las Vegas at the time.

The 2024 attendance figure provides a historical reference point for the festival's return to the same venue. The January 2027 Championship will once again bring the WPT Prime brand to Taipei, with its TWD 30 million guaranteed prize pool and five-day Championship schedule.

Hsing “David” Tai, founder of CTP, welcomed the tour's return and highlighted the support the event has received from players in Taiwan and overseas.

Taipei's poker scene and hospitality have helped attract players travelling from across Asia and other regions. Beyond the tournament tables, visitors can explore the city's neighbourhoods, food and culture during the festival.

The event's location in Zhongshan District places the festival within Taipei, where the Asia Poker Arena will serve as the tournament venue throughout the scheduled series.

WPT Global to Offer Online Satellites and Live Packages

WPT Global will support the January festival through online satellites at a range of buy-ins, including low-cost qualification options.

Players will have opportunities to win exclusive live packages for the event at CTP’s Asia Poker Arena, allowing them to qualify for the trip through online tournaments.

In addition to the satellite program, WPT Global plans to introduce further player incentives, promotions and on-site activities throughout the festival. These initiatives are intended to provide additional ways for players to engage with the event beyond the tournament tables.

Specific satellite dates, buy-in amounts, package inclusions and eligibility requirements have not yet been announced. Players can follow WPT Global’s official channels for updates as further information becomes available.

The available details do not yet specify the contents of the live packages or the full schedule of associated activities. Those details are expected to be provided closer to the January festival.
