GGPoker Packed A $1 Million Guarantee For The Upcoming GGMasters Event
GGPoker’s popular freezeout tournament, GGMasters, now has a $1 million guaranteed prize pool for the event listed for March 9.
GGPoker has raised the stakes with its GGMasters guarantee. The online poker giant is offering $1 million in prize pool for the GGMasters tournament scheduled for March 9.
The GGMasters tournament listing in the client shows that the GGMasters prize pool has been doubled from its usual $500,000 with the buy-in still resting at $150.
This marks the first time when the GGMasters event has carried a seven-figure guarantee on a Sunday outside of a major tournament series.
To hit the target with the current advertised guarantee, the tournament will need to attract more than 7,247 entries (twice the usual number of entries).
The decision to boost the guarantee comes at a time when GGPoker had to cancel its 5th anniversary GGMasters $5 million tournament.
The event was scrapped due to technical issues. The event was paused and then rescheduled for March 2. But more technical difficulties were encountered, post which the event was sadly cancelled.
So far, GGPoker has not yet officially announced whether the inflated guarantee for GGMasters was a one-time occurrence or a new change.
A GGPoker spokesperson informed Pokerfuse.com that the $1 million prize pool is not necessarily temporary.
The tournament’s performance with a $1 million guarantee would determine whether the prize pool will continue or not. When it comes to GGPoker Ontario, the GGMasters event will continue to run with the usual guarantee.
