  • GGPoker bans 'RealOA' for live coaching breach, forfeiting $250,523.
  • Ren Lin suspended indefinitely, ordered to return $96,380.
  • Prize pool redistributed among affected players.
GGPoker Security Statement
GGPoker has handed out major account bans in response to a real-time assistance (RTA) incident during the $10,300 GGMillion$ final table on October 14.

The event, one of the site’s most high-profile weekly tournaments, ended under scrutiny after it was revealed that the eventual winner, “RealOA,” received live coaching during play.

What Happened at the Table

According to GGPoker, RealOA received strategic input from high-stakes pro and site ambassador Ren “Tony” Lin during the tournament. Both players were sanctioned following an internal investigation.

  • RealOA has been permanently banned from GGPoker, WSOP Online, and all connected partner platforms.  Their winnings, totaling $250,523, were forfeited.
  • Ren Lin has been indefinitely suspended from the site. He was ordered to return $96,380, and was also disqualified from a WSOP Super Circuit event in Cyprus shortly after the decision.

GGPoker’s Response

In a statement released following the bans, GGPoker emphasized its zero-tolerance policy toward RTA and reiterated that it would take consistent enforcement actions, even in cases involving high-profile names or ambassadors.

The site also confirmed that the $346,903 prize pool from the affected GGMillion$ final has been redistributed among impacted players.

The Bigger Picture for Poker Integrity

The case has reopened conversations around the use of real-time assistance in online poker. While the technology itself isn’t new, its presence in high-stakes games, especially when it involves coaching or communication between players during hands, undermines core principles of fair play.

For operators, this marks another example of tightening enforcement across the board. Whether it’s solvers, screen-sharing, or coaching over voice calls, the industry is getting less forgiving.

FAQs: Ren Lin GGPoker Ban

What is real-time assistance (RTA) in poker?

Real-time assistance refers to any form of external help a player receives while actively participating in a hand. This includes live coaching, strategy tools like solvers, or communication with third parties during gameplay. It’s strictly prohibited by all major poker sites.

Why was Ren “Tony” Lin banned?

Ren Lin, a GGPoker ambassador, was found to have provided strategic guidance to the eventual winner of the GGMillion$ final table during live play. This violated GGPoker’s policies on fair play, leading to his indefinite suspension and disqualification from other events.

What happened to the player who won the tournament?

The player using the alias “RealOA” was permanently banned across GGPoker and its partner networks. Their $250,523 in winnings from the GGMillion$ was also confiscated.

Will the prize pool be refunded or redistributed?

Yes. GGPoker confirmed that the $346,903 prize pool from the affected final table will be redistributed among impacted players in accordance with its integrity and refund policies.
