Phil Hellmuth shared a video venting about his elimination from Event #33 at the 2026 WSOP. After finishing 37th for $21,162 due to a river bad beat, the poker legend expressed deep frustration with his current long summer tournament run.
The 2026 World Series of Poker (WSOP) has provided plenty of high-stakes drama, and the latest chapter involves a very familiar voice. On Wednesday, just two weeks into the long summer series, 17-time bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth suffered a frustrating elimination that prompted a candid social media response.
Shortly after busting on Day 2 of Event #33: $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship, the "Poker Brat" posted a three-minute video clip expressing his profound frustration with how his tournament run concluded.
Hellmuth had put together an impressive run in the prestigious Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo event. Late in the Day 2 session, he found himself in great shape and noted that he was "playing great poker." However, his momentum was completely halted by a painful turn of cards.
The defining moment arrived when Hellmuth made a massive bet on the turn. The only player at the table who had him covered decided to call off the wager while drawing to a mere three outs.
Unfortunately for Hellmuth, one of those crucial outs landed on the river, sending him to the rail. Hellmuth ultimately cashed in 37th place, taking home $21,162 for his efforts.
The recent bad beat compounded existing frustrations for Hellmuth at the 2026 WSOP. In his post-elimination video, he also pointed back to his final table appearance from last week in Event #9: $10,000 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship.
During that event, Hellmuth reached the final table but ran poorly when it mattered most. He was eliminated in seventh place, earning $54,214, but ultimately fell short of capturing his record-extending 18th WSOP bracelet.
While Hellmuth generally attempts to maintain a positive outlook on his public channels, the combination of consecutive deep-run disappointments pushed him to vent. In his video, he directly addressed his decision to speak out, noting that he rarely shares negative content.
"Folks, for the last few years, I don't really share many negative posts on social media. I understand, I'm always like 'hey, Phil, you have a lot of money. You have fame, you have fortune. You have health, you have everything,'" Hellmuth explained.
Despite acknowledging his fortunate circumstances, the competitive sting of the recent river card led him to admit, "I'm getting sick of this s**t."
With several weeks remaining in the 2026 WSOP calendar, the poker community will be watching closely to see how the 17-time champion bounces back from these consecutive heartbreaks.
